About Zhishan America
Zhishan America is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded by members of the community behind Zhishan Organization in Taiwan, carrying forward a shared commitment to the well-being and development of children and young people.
We work to strengthen and support Zhishan’s long-standing programs in Taiwan, particularly those serving infants, children, and young adults in underserved and remote communities. Through education, outreach, fundraising, and community engagement, Zhishan America connects people in the United States with this work—helping provide children and families with sustained care, educational opportunities, and the support they need to grow and thrive.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: meaningful change begins by walking alongside children and communities, with compassion, respect, and a commitment that lasts.
Origin & Mission
Zhishan America grew from a commitment that began many years ago in Taiwan.
Founded by people who have long been involved with Zhishan Organization in Taiwan, Zhishan America was established to carry this shared mission across the Pacific and build a bridge of care between communities in the United States and Taiwan.
For decades, Zhishan’s work in Taiwan has focused on walking alongside infants, children, and young adults from underserved communities, particularly in remote and Indigenous areas. Rather than offering assistance only at moments of need, Zhishan believes in long-term accompaniment—supporting children as they grow through health and early childhood care, education, family support, cultural learning, and opportunities for personal development.
Zhishan America brings together a diverse team of volunteers and professionals who share this commitment. Our team includes physicians, lawyers, business owners and managers, college professors, scientists and engineers, educators, and professionals with extensive experience in nonprofit organizations. Each brings a different perspective and area of expertise, united by the belief that meaningful change is possible when people contribute what they know, what they can do, and what they care about.
Through fundraising, education, outreach, professional collaboration, and community engagement, Zhishan America works to strengthen Zhishan’s programs and operations in Taiwan while creating opportunities for people in the United States—especially younger generations—to become more aware of the needs of children and communities beyond their own.
Our mission is rooted in a simple conviction: every child deserves the opportunity not only to survive, but to grow, learn, discover their potential, and be accompanied along the way.
